Aloha, my name is Keoni, but my friends call me Oni. As a surf instructor at Aloha Surf School I love getting to meet new people and spending my days in the water!
I truly believe that just doing what you love is the best way to enjoy life. If you have a passion, follow it. It doesn’t matter if it’s not what everybody else is doing. Just be true to yourself and everything else will fall into place. Considering my passion for surfing, I love my job! As an instructor at Aloha Surf School I get to teach guests in the same waters that I grew up surfing in. This is my home and I’m proud of it. When guests are in the water with me I encourage them not to overthink it. Just think it, feel it do it!
I was born on Oahu and moved with my family to Maui when I was three years old. Since then I’ve enjoyed surfing the shores of this amazing island, always trying to improve my technique. My dad was a pro surfer so I’m always trying to get better. When I’m not catching waves or practicing new tricks on my skateboard, I turn to my more creative, artistic side. I paint with almost all media and make music on the drums and the ukulele. As much as I like expressing myself through the arts, I can’t replace the rush I get surfing big waves or trying something new and maybe a little dangerous. It gives me a natural high and makes me feel like i’m really living!
