Joel is an intrepid traveler with a thirst for new cultures and the life changing experiences that accompany them.
“Growing up in Lake Tahoe and having the Sierra Nevada Mountains as my playground taught me to cherish and care for the wild and natural places we all enjoy. From kayaking to hiking, from mountain biking to scuba diving, and untouched powder runs in the back country, I’m at my best when I’m surrounded by nature.”
“I found myself growing restless and looking to the horizon, so on the eave of my 30th birthday I made the decision to say goodbye to everything I owned; my house, my truck. all of the gear and equipment that had brought me so much joy and happiness, and a career that I had dedicated ten years to and fit everything I needed fit into my backpack. Twenty-two countries, countless adventures, and five years later I find myself breathing easy on the shores of Maui. Best decision I have ever made!”
Joel has been part of our team for two years now and he brings an easygoing and sincere presence to each and everyday. An accomplished kayak guide and PADI certified Dive Master, his love for the the world under the waves is unquestionable, whether it’s paddling out to say Aloha to the whales or floating effortlessly while snorkeling in the calm waters with our guests, he sees it all as a blessing. Being next to guests when their eyes connect with the eyes of a turtle, for the first time, is unforgettable.’
‘I can recall the first time I joined Kevin on his cultural tour in the Hawaiian outrigger, it was moving to say the least. Now I get to watch as our guests hearts become awakened and humbled at the same time from their exposure with Kevin’s Hawaiian outrigger tours. Its gratifying to see the Aloha spirit shared in this way. We may start out as your guide but at the end of the day we become family.’
