Aloha, my name is Jason Paul Nu’uhina Bero Jr., my three brothers and I were born on Oahu and have continued to call the Hawaiian Islands home. My passion for the ocean is obvious as I spend much of my time in the water. A well seasoned spear fisherman, I also enjoy kayaking, canoeing and most other ocean sports.
On the rare occasions that I’m not swimming with the fish, I like to paint them! Gyotaku (traditional Japanese method of printing fish) allows me to combine my love of the ocean with my artistic talent to create colorful lifelike masterpieces. I also enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with family and friends.
Being a local, I am fluent in pidgin (Hawaiian creole).
I love working at Wailea Beach for the chance to be in the ocean every day and to share my excitement for the water with guests. Because I see my time with the team as both a learning and a teaching experience,I am thankful for the opportunity to expand my own knowledge of Hawaiian culture and history. Perpetuating Hawaiian culture in a way that is genuine and meaningful is the ultimate goal for me and the rest of the team.
“In the end you’ll only regret the things you didn’t try,” so I encourage beachgoers to get in the water, try something new and most importantly, have fun!
