I moved to Maui in 1998, after a professional surfing career that allowed me to tour the world. Fifteen years of competing on the ASP World Longboard Tour was an amazing adventure but it certainly doesn’t represent the beginning of my surfing experience. I was quite literally born and raised on the beach. My father worked on the shore and as a youngster, only 10 years old, he had me instructing my own surf lessons! I have always had a passion for the sport and have found joy in sharing it with others.
So much of my joy in life comes from my relationship with the ocean, so even if I’m not on a board, you can be sure to find me kayaking, canoeing, fishing, or pretty much anything on the water! Two of the very few things that can drag me away from the water however, are my love of cooking, and above all else, my family.
I love my job because it lets me share my passion for the water and respect for the island with guests and I get to do what I love most, as we say here on the island, “surf, party, cruz.” Life is all about enjoying every moment and taking time to appreciate the little things, so if everybody is out in the water and enjoying themselves, it’s a good day!
